Gallatin's Halloween Week Peaks on October 24, a Week Early

The busiest Halloween evening in Gallatin this year takes place on a dark, hilly park road off Zieglers Fort Road, one week before the date on the calendar. On Saturday, October 24, from 6 to 8 PM, the Friends of Bledsoe Creek State Park hold their annual Trail of Treats. It is free. Families walk at least a mile, often holding glow sticks, along a road that rises and falls through the park's day-use area.

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, but Gallatin's public events are spread across the whole week. The 24th has an all-day festival plus two evening events at the state park. Friday the 30th covers preschoolers in the morning and older kids after school. The 31st has a single evening trunk or treat at the American Legion. If you plan the week by asking who in your house is trick-or-treating and when they do their best, you will get more out of it than if you wait for the 31st.

Saturday, October 24 Starts in the Morning at Triple Creek Park

The first event that Saturday is the Pumpkins & Pickin's Festival at Triple Creek Park. The City of Gallatin's event calendar has it running from 10 AM to 6 PM. A vendor and maker calendar on MyGallatin gives the same date with an earlier end time of 3 PM. It describes local vendors, food trucks, family activities and a Kids Market, and lists the vendor application through Ember & Ivy Events. If you want the food trucks or the Kids Market, go before lunch. That way you're covered whichever closing time turns out to be right.

Going in the morning also leaves your afternoon free for the bigger event that evening. Triple Creek Park and Bledsoe Creek State Park are both on the Gallatin side of Sumner County. A family can do the festival, go home for a nap and a costume change, and still reach Zieglers Fort Road before the trail opens.

Saturday Evening Belongs to Bledsoe Creek

Trail of Treats is the event this post is built around. Sumner County Source announced the 2026 date back in August and called it "a favorite community tradition." The event takes place at Bledsoe Creek State Park, 400 Zieglers Fort Rd., and costs nothing.

Tennessee State Parks publishes a set of logistics notes for the Friends group's trunk or treat. They describe how the event usually runs, so think of them as the park's standing guidance and not a 2026-specific notice. They are still the most useful thing to read before you go:

  1. Plan to walk at least a mile. The route usually follows Raccoon Creek Road, the park's day-use road, and goes up and down along the way. Bring a wagon or a stroller with good wheels.
  2. Bring glow sticks. The park recommends them for children because the paths are dark.
  3. Park at the boat ramps. Stay off the grass unless an officer waves you onto it.
  4. Arriving early doesn't get you in early. Anyone who shows up ahead of time waits in a line along Main Park Road and can't enter the event area until 6 PM.
  5. Go through once. The park asks each trick-or-treater to make a single pass so the treats last for everyone.

Point three is about traffic as much as courtesy. Bledsoe Creek is posting volunteers for an event parking shift on the 24th. They meet at the park maintenance area at 5:15 PM and spend the evening keeping cars out of the grass and unmarked spots. If you want to help, the volunteer listing is open.

The campground's own contest

A second Halloween event runs the same night inside the campground. Harvests and Haunts is the park's eighth annual campsite decorating contest, and only campers with reserved sites can enter. Judges drive the loops at 7 PM looking for fall and Halloween décor, and the park asks entrants to follow Leave No Trace principles. First place wins three nights of camping at Bledsoe Creek, second place two nights and third place one. Winners get a phone call Sunday morning. Registration asks for a donation, starting at $5.

The park has also posted next year's date. The 2027 Halloween event is set for October 23, 2027, more than a week before Halloween. Bledsoe Creek picks its own weekend for Halloween and doesn't follow the date on the calendar.

Friday, October 30 Is Split by Age

After the 24th, the next cluster comes on Friday, and the two events are timed for children of different ages.

Daytime, for preschoolers. Historic Downtown Gallatin hosts Trick-or-treat on the Square from 10 AM to 2 PM on Friday, October 30. Kids go door to door to the merchants around the Square. The Downtown Gallatin listing calls it an alternative to evening trick-or-treating for preschoolers. For a three-year-old, a sunny weekday hour on the Square may suit better than a mile on a dark park road. It also gives younger siblings a Halloween of their own while older kids are at school.

After school, for everyone else. A community event listing shows a Trunk-or-Treat hosted by Gallatin High School HOSA from 4:30 to 7 PM on the 30th at Gallatin High School, 700 Dan P. Herron Drive, with face painting, games and activities. The listing itself suggests checking with the official event page before you go.

Saturday, October 31 Has One Clear Listing

On Halloween itself, the John T. Alexander American Legion Post 17 calendar has a Halloween Trunk or Treat at 5 PM. The Post 17 events calendar gives the time but no address or cost, so contact the Post before you head over.

Post 17's calendar also shows how full the 24th is around town. On that same Saturday the Post has an America's 250th Celebration at 4 PM and a Family Game Night at 5 PM.

Here is the week as a whole, sorted by who each event suits:

The Pumpkin Run Is Cheaper on a Weekday

If the 24th is spoken for, there's another day to fit in pumpkins. White House Pumpkin Patch at 8601 Cross Plains Road in White House opened for the season on September 14, 2026. Its attraction admission is $10 plus tax per person Monday through Friday and $13 plus tax on Saturday and Sunday. You don't need to pay admission to buy pumpkins or fall décor or to see the animals.

The $3 weekend difference adds up for a family of four. The weekday tradeoff is hayrides, which the farm runs only Friday through Sunday. The farm also advertises an 8-acre corn maze. Posted hours are 10:30 AM to 6 PM on weekdays, 10 AM to 6 PM Saturday and 1 to 5 PM Sunday. A Friday visit gets you the weekday price, the hayrides and an evening still open for the HOSA trunk or treat. The farm's site has current details.

If your family meets neighbors along the Raccoon Creek Road walk on the 24th or on the Square on the 30th, we'd like to hear which Gallatin traditions are worth keeping for next year. When you're ready to talk about the house you'll be decorating next October, the team at Local Realty Partners can start with a free home valuation, and there's no rush and no pressure.
